Henry Perrin

Rescent & Updated Info from a long time Perrin Reseacher, Carol Randall of Tacoma, Washington. She is descended from Samuel Perrin, son of John. Her line settled in Arkansas.

Sherry, Your website is terrific. I heard about you from your Mom. We use to correspond eons ago!

At one time I thought Joseph Perrin was the father of our John Perrin. He isn’t. I’ve been working on the Perrin line for more years than I care to remember. I’ve tried everyway I know how to connect John to Joseph. But it just isn’t there. I “believe” the father of our John Perrin was Henry Perrin. No solid proof! I think it goes like this:

Henry Perrin was the father of Isaac Perrin b. c 1736, John b. c 1738 and Joseph b. c 1740. I’m sure there were others but these 3 are fairly certain. This Joseph was the one who ended up in Georgia. Henry, I believe, was a brother of the Joseph Perrin who md. Rebecca.

Mary Lou Bailey’s Research Although this has not been proven, it is the best possible scenario thus far as to who the father of John Perrin is. The dates fit, location, etc.

I enter this information here more for the purpose of research than actual fact. This is for my benefit only and not to be taken as fact. I believe this work of Mary Lou is the most factual and realistic of any other I’ve seen. I give her full credit for this information.

Henry Perrin of Hanover County is a contemporary and is possibly a brother of the Joseph Perrin who was born about 1700 at Hanover County and later settled at Lunenburg/Charlotte Counties. Henry named a son, born in 1740, Joseph Perrin.

Henry may have lived in Henrico County before settling in Hanover County. His son, Joseph Perrin, sold land in Henrico County on 20 June 1771, stating it was land he had received from his father, Henry Perrin.

In 1771, Henry Perrin had land processioned in Hanover County, in a district which included land of John Bowe, deceased, Pulliam’s orphans, and others of the Bowe and Ragland surnames, the same families who had been neighbors to Samuel Perrin and to the Joseph Perrin, later of Charlotte County, 1715-1740.

About 1781-1783 Henry Perrin of Hanover County made a claim for public service in the Rev. War. A Henry Perrin ( b.1710,d.1782) is listed on the tax lists at Hanover Co.,Va. between 1782 and 1815. The early entries perhaps apply to this Henry, and the later ones to Henry, son of Isaac, who first appears in 1784 under his father, Isaac Perrin.

A census of Va. taken in 1782 listed Henry Perrin ( b.1710, d 1782) living at Hanover County. He was the head of a family of 3 whites and 3 blacks.

Children of Henry Perrin are speculated to include: John Perrin b. c 1738, Isaac Perrin b. c 1736, and Joseph Perrin b. c 1740.

1790 Census Hanover Co.,Va. St. Paul’s Parish lists Henry Perren…3 free white males 16 & up, and 3 blacks.

The 1810 Census for Hanover Co. lists a Henry Perrin on p.60
