Family Tales and Information

Contributed by Clyde Goen:

Why Icy Goen never married:

She was engaged to be married at one point. Her fiance’s light bulb burned out in his bathroom and he stood on the side of the tub to change it. In those days, that kind of light hung by wires and operated by pull string. The bath tubs were also cast iron. Something went wrong and he was electrocuted. Story is that Icy never dated again.

W. R. Goen was one of the original founders of Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church:

Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church is still in operation and is now the oldest continuously open Free Will Baptist church in the state of Texas.
