Originally a railroad, then farming town, it lasted less than 40 years, losing out to Dayton

There is a historical marker for Stilson  and the Texas Handbook Online has a small article about Stilson.

From little Hopel Reid's Death Certificate, we can see that the Linney Cem, although used from 1850 and served the Liberty County area, was also used by people from Stilson. The link will take you to the Linney Cem listed on Findagrave with over 1,000 memorials. There is a photo of the historical marker for the cemetery.
