No website. This is a volunteer submitted review:  "I took a Find-A-Grave photo request sheet into their office, consisting of about 25 requests, and they told me that since these were not direct relatives that it would be $50 an hour to research the information." -- Chuck, TX

"Contacted [Staff at Information Desk] by telephone to find a relative's burial plot. They were at first reluctant to provide, telling me I should come in and they would take me out to the site. After I insisted, they provided me with a burial plot location, which proved to be nonexistent. Further telephone calls have proved fruitless." -- Mary, Calif. Genealogist

Attempts to reach Debbie Hernandez, Manager, were unsuccessful.

This is probably the most forward-thinking cemetery organization I have encountered. With over 2,600 grave sites, this is no small country cemetery. By visiting their website, you can get the section & plot number from searching by name or SSN.  The downside is the site states the database hasn't been updated since 2007, however  if you contact them, they will be happy to let you know where the gravesite is located. If I could give them a higher rating than an A+, I would.

In 2008 I was asked by a lady in Virginia to please photograph the headstone of some cousins who had died in the 1950's. The staff at the information desk treated me horribly, once they realized I was not a family member. I had heard many complaints about this cemetery from other volunteer photographers prior to my contact with the cemetery staff. The complaints were well founded. I will say that once I got past the information desk staff and met with the Family Services rep, they were nice and helpful.

This very large cemetery was helpful  in getting the locations while we waited. They even offered to come show us where the locations were if we had trouble. Very nice.

The rating for this funeral home has changed several times recently and this is a direct result of their inaction to find even 1 grave location on a list of 25 within a 2 week period.  Their stated primary goal is to help the grieving family at the moment but they say they will honor request for grave-site locations so volunteers can fulfill headstone photograph request. The issue arises that they have agreed to provide the information and have not done so in a reasonable and timely manner. Not even one grave location. Once they agree to provide the information, the request sits  in limbo. No one else can ask, unless it is a family member. If they are checking this review, they can call the staff, request the information and then locate someone in the area, give them the information and thereby, hopefully fulfill the request to take the headstone photo.  The real loser here is the requester, usually a family member, even if not directly connected.  The volunteer usually has no connection and so, they just move one to a more service friendly funeral home and fulfill someone else's request.  Not the ideal situation for people who have someone buried in this cemetery.

I requested 8 grave site locations and provided the requests from the original requesters. I was put off for over 2 weeks, calls weren't answered and finally I was brushed off. I contacted Mr. John Earthman and related the incident to him. He quickly responded, offered an apology and is gathering the information himself! Thank you Mr. Earthman! The people making the request are very appreciative too, I am sure!

Rosewood Funeral Home and Cemetery  A+

This very large cemetery is one of the friendliest and most helpful cemeteries to work with. The staff are always ready and willing to assist with the grave locations. The internments are computerized and the large section maps are right there at the desk. They look the person up, and mark it on a section map. Once, there were 2 people I just could not find and the lady came out and showed me where they were! Just an excellent group of people!

On the day I visited their offices to inquire about a grave location, they had just finished 2 funerals, and were making preparations for a third that afternoon. Even though I had called the day before and requested the information, I still needed to visit the office several times before it was determined, there was no marker for the gravesite I was seeking. Each time the staff was just wonderful and very helpful. The Family Services staff did everything to help me and offered to take me to the site if I couldn't find it. Excellent!

"I've been to Woodlawn Cemetery many times to take photos and have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Also, there are two other volunteers I know who go there often and they've never had a negative experience with any of the staff, either." -- Susan, Reviewer

No website. This historic cemetery is under new ownership and the General Manager, Cheryl Danford, has made customer service her top priorty. Headstones have been uprighted and the grounds are looking great and no longer have that "abandoned" look.  Over 100 gravesites have been recovered. Lisa, with Tracking Your Roots had this to say about her experience: "This cemeterys customer service has improved from a zero to a ten since Cheryl took over!!  My kudos to her-we'd tried for months to get assistance from the precious managment with NO success. Once Cheryl was in place we were able to obtain maps and quickly and efficiently provided with burial location information."

It was my pleasure to re-review this Cemetery and upgrade their rating to our hightest!

Website not working at this time. Very friendly and helpful staff. The first time I visited here (2008) the lady took me in a golf-cart to each grave (6).  Later the same year I visited again and one of the caretakers showed me where the grave should have been. (Headstone was missing). Over all, this is a good cemetery to fulfill request for.

No website. When I first visited this cemetery in 2008, it was a mess. I haven't been back so I can't say how things are run today. At the time I was there, the caretakers were an older couple who did their best. Bookkeeping is done by paper in stacks, on top of the desk, the filing cabinet, along the floor. Everything is done by hand.  They were nice enough but didn't want to make an effort locate gravesites. Too overwhelming I guess. They gave me what they could recall from memory.
